How It Works

Four Steps.
One Weekend.
A Floor For Life.

Decorative flake floors look complicated. They aren't. The DIY-friendly install is a four-step weekend project: prep, base coat, broadcast, topcoat. Detailed install guides on every product page.

01

Prep

Grind and clean concrete to a CSP 2-3 profile. Patch cracks and divots. Vacuum dust.

02

Base Coat

Roll your 100% solids epoxy, polyaspartic, or polyurea base. Work in 10x10 ft sections.

03

Broadcast

Toss flake to refusal within 20-40 minutes of base. Decorative or full reject coverage.

04

Topcoat

Scrape loose flake. Apply UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. Done in 24 hours.

FAQ

Common Questions.

A properly installed DIY epoxy flake floor with a polyaspartic topcoat lasts 10 to 20 years in a typical garage. The flake itself is solid vinyl, which does not fade or degrade. Longevity depends on three things: surface prep, total mil thickness (most DIY systems land at 12 to 20 mils), and a UV-stable topcoat. Cheap one-part rolled-on "epoxy paint" from a box store is what gives epoxy floors a bad reputation, and typically peels in 1 to 3 years. A real 100% solids epoxy or polyaspartic base coat with broadcast flake is a different product.
